How many times have you pledged to start eating healthy, only to find that local restaurants charge an arm and a leg for a cuisine that consists of leafy greens and succulent, lean meats? How is that supposed to encourage healthy eating on a budget?
Green Kitchen, a new addition to South Park Slope neighborhood, has a few affordable recipes to fix that problem. Just south of the bustling 9th street cross section at 5th Avenue, Green Kitchen was founded by Park Slope Diner owner Mike Condoulis as an alternative to the less healthy choices on the neighboring blocks. The Green Kitchen menu consists of everything from homestyle burgers to seared salmon steak over arugula to the eye catching, taste bud teasing, strawberry and mozzarella salad.
Condoulis has been in the restaurant business off and on for the majority of his life, and saw the emerging Park Slope neighborhood as the perfect spot to test his new concept.
He soon plans to start buying from the local farmers that frequent the Park Slope Market.
In addition to his natural food endeavors, Condoulis recently connected his restaurant to the social media and blogger communities. His restaurant blog is updated twice a week with information related to natural foods, along with posting daily deals and specials on Green Kitchen’s Twitter page.
Condoulis and the Green Kitchen team have graciously donated a $60 gift certificate to a lucky Brooklynite that is up for grabs via Brokelyn’s RAFFLE OF THE CENTURY. With elaborate meals at $15 or less, $60 at Green Kitchen can go a long way, definitely feeding you for more than a day. Check out Green Kitchen and enter our raffle to win a chance to win some great HEALTHY eats!
